Kim G. Schefler
Kim G. Schefler has extensive experience in the representation of clients in the entertainment, media and intellectual property realm. Her current practice focuses on book publishing, fashion, film and television. As a member of the literary representation group, Ms. Schefler acts as both an attorney and a literary agent in the representation of authors and, in connection therewith, provides extensive guidance in the development and sale of select non-fiction literary works and in the structuring and negotiation of publishing, collaboration, option and other agreements. In addition, Ms. Schefler represents literary agents in the negotiation of such agreements for their clients, and counsels such agents in their own professional transitions within the literary agenting world. In fashion, she provides general representation to prominent fashion designers and negotiates international licensing and distribution agreements. Ms. Schefler also provides counseling to and negotiates executive employment agreements for senior publishing and other executives.
Ms. Schefler graduated from Barnard College (B.A. 1979, cum laude) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 1982). She is a member of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law section of the New York State Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schefler took some time off from the practice of law to do non-profit work in support of autism and autism education.
